"Someday you'll get some rest." I can't count how many parents gave me this advice when I was struggling for sleep as a new parent. Now that my children are young adults, the sleep deprivation isn't an issue related to raising a family. It's more about enjoying every waking moment. I'm due for a good sleep in, breakfast at noon!

Full Bodied Sand Woman

What does morning really mean? The sun doesn't show til after 5 at this time of year, so if you are working through the early a.m. and it's dark is it really morning or still night. I wasn't dancing til 4am. 
I had the honor of leading two workshops in creativity and healing at the VA CLC. It takes a special person to work that shift consistently. Flipping the culturally accepted 9-5 shift or even the    5 - midnight shift for the midnight shift. How many professions works all three shifts? How do we honor these flexible employees??

Pig Dog at the Beach

Funny how your eyes play tricks on you when you are looking at things from far away. (or without my glasses). I could have sworn there was a pig walking on the beach. But on further inspection it was a dog. As a city dweller, I can't really remember the last time I saw many farm animals, except from the car windows. A few specks of cows or horses, a random goat or two on the landscapes along Route 50. Bobbie Staat did her Masters thesis on cows. Sand Doll

So freeing to be drawing in the sand, at the beach, knowing that eventually the image will be dissolved by the ocean. No storage issues and thanks to my little cellular device I can capture the image and bring it up on my laptop to play with a bit. 
Off to pedal for a coffee and move my muscles.

"I could have danced all night", oh wait, I did!! Loved every minute. Makes a big difference when you have a capable dance partner who knows how to move you around the floor.

Holding His Instrument

Hope to stop by the Smithsonian Folklife Festival tonight before the big storms. The Dixie Cups are playing at 6 and I'd love to stroll the exhibits from Columbia and the Peace Corps. 
The 19th Street Band is playing four nights in a row....been to two so far, next up Branded 72 in Rockville and then Growler's in Gaithersburg. 
DC Fringe Festival is in full throttle and other theater possibilities are drawing me near. Just not enough evenings in a week.

Holiday Hairdo

Across the Picket Fence

Snow Hill, Maryland. A town that has all but been forgotten. If not for a couple of courageous restauranteurs and the library and the amazing Pocomoke River. A pleasant way to spend an evening. Traveling the agricultural byway dotted with farm houses and knee high corn stalks. Pass through some time and have dinner at the Blue Dog Cafe or the Palette. You won't be disappointed.
