Drawing A Day 152

Nearly Full
Between the moon settings and the sun risings the visual stimulation is over whelming. I could draw for hours around these two themes. This "drawing a day" challenge has prompted me to create images that are not only about people but about nature without the human element. Although it seems to go in waves. Don't have any explanation. Keeping it authentic and spontaneous.

Drawing A Day 151

Sky, Sand, Dune Grass

Discovered a new coffee book store in Fenwick Island, Bookend Cafe. Very pleasant, great coffee and the perfect goal for a morning bike ride. It just keeps getting better.

Drawing A Day 149

Canoe, Lovers and the Full Moon

Is it a dream? Warm spring night, full moon, the quiet lapping of water against an old canoe. That feeling that there is only us, the rest of the world; silent.

Drawing A Day 148

Butterscotch

The sun begins to rise and the birds start their chorus. No conductor, just seemingly random sounds combining in authentic improvisation. Open window season brings new smells and sounds, awakening the senses as summer approaches. Let go and make some noise!!!

Drawing A Day 147

Grey Night Fuller Moon
Feeling grounded, sound and secure. And not just because the weather is warm enough to be barefoot most of the time. But this is the weather that suits me best. My shoulders drop back and my heart is opened to the heat of the sun.

Life Lessons

The recent passing of Will Ritchie has brought up many feelings of loss and a reminder that we haven't really got a clue when our time will come. I send the Ritchie family my deepest sympathies and know they have many many fond memories of Will to nourish their hearts. In honor of Will, I plan to keep my curiosity open, engage full throttle in what life has to offer and share my love with my family and friends.

This Path Goes Easily

I have to believe that the path for my friends who are now dealing with the challenges of surprise health issues will be eased quickly and their health restored. With their stregnth and love from all of their family and friends this set back will be a brief blip in just a few months.

These Shoes Will Take You Dancing

Movement. I appreciate the time I spend moving through space on my bike, doing yoga, dancing, walking, stretching, swimming. From the big muscle groups to the small fine motor skills that let me thread a needle. I am in awe of the connection and fluidity of body in motion.

Drawing A Day 134 and 135

Two for one today. Been so busy I completely missed a day! I kind of like this side by side view. Something about looking at the differences, the compositions, the line and shapes. Like looking at a gallery full of one artists work. Enjoy!

Drawing A Day 133

Draw Me a Shirt Please

Kids ask for the funniest things. Mostly it's about listening to their requests and honoring exactly what they want. If they can articulate that. Hoping that you are reading it the right way. There's a story  I love about a young child that asks the parent, "where do I come from" and the parent launches into a complex "birds and the bees" discourse. When the parent is done the kid looks up and says, "New Jersery or New York". I work hard to be attentive to what the kids are saying, what they are asking for and even try to read between the lines.

Drawing A Day 131

Sunrise Through the Greens

Appreciating the energy of volunteerism. I know when I am able to volunteer it gives me such a good feeling. Now as I rely heavily on support from others I want to make their experience as enjoyable and rewarding as possible. A big big thank you to all of you who take the time to support others. Every minute of support is worth hours and hours of ease.

                                       A Fresh Day Dream

Birds chirping out my window. Flowers bursting with color around my garden. A sense of excitement and open energy to the possibilities that spring offers. Days of above freezing temperatures to come. Plans for bike rides, evenings around the fire pit, dinners on the deck. I am renewed.

Drawing A Day 126

Man and Tree

When the energy feels positive it can sweep you up and into a whirl of great things. That's how it felt at the "Art of Caring" luncheon yesterday at the Mayflower. A room full of support for the amazing work that Iona provides to seniors in the community. It's always a good time to donate to the cause; visit iona.org.
Today I look forward to getting more familiar with the "Art Cart" project about documenting our National Treasury of Elder Artists work and a long drive afterwards to visit my daughter at college. I am so grateful for all of these positive opportunities in my life.

Drawing A Day 124

Music to My Ears

Making art with an intergenerational group is one of my favorite things to do. The kids are so open and accepting the parents hesitant to let their children see their inner child revealed and the elders full of wisdom and ease. Looking forward to offering art and healing  on Saturday for a Three Generation Retreat focused on awakening the 9-12 year olds awareness of self, good healthy habits and taking care and appreciating their beauty.

Drawing A Day 123

Mixed Spring Emotions

The changing weather everyday, every  other hour. Big storms, that I can't seem to remember witnessing in the past. Keeps me on my toes.
In any given day there are probably 3 amazing events I'd be honored to attend. This area is a boon for creativity. From new play readings to irish music to art exhibits. Anyone who says they are bored simply have their eyes closed.  My choice for tonight will be a collaboration of art, music and lighting design in Town Center Rockville from 5-10 PM. Come and join me.

Drawing A Day 112

Portrait of the Blue Eyed Girl

Sometimes it's best not to get out of bed, but to snuggle back in with a good book and take that restorative time to leave your busy thoughts and get consumed by an entirely different world. It's a luxury I don't often make time for in my life. I look forward to days of reading, drawing, going for long walks and bike rides, watching the sunset and occasionally a sun rise!
